The Pell Grant Program is a program that offers grants to low-income college who meet the eligibility requirements for financial need. It is sponsored by the United States Department of Education.

What is the history and purpose of the Pell Grant?

The Pell Grant is sponsored by the United States Department of Education, and was named after Senator Claiborne Pell. Pell Grant rules and restrictions for this program are dictated by the Higher Education Act of 1965, Title IV, Part A, Subpart 1; 20 U.S.C. 1070a. The grant was originally called the ‘Basic Educational Opportunity Grant’. The Pell Grant program is available to undergraduate, and to some graduate, students in certain programs. Students can use their grants in approximately 5,400 colleges and universities in the United States.

How much money can I get through Pell Grant program?

The maximum Pell Grant award per student will increase to $4,600 in 2008, and by $200 per year each year until 2012. It is estimated that the maximum award will cover 75% of tuition in a public four-year college. The average award will cover approximately 42% of these fees. Currently there is no restriction on the number of years a student may receive Pell Grant, provided the student maintains a degree program as an undergraduate and does not already have an undergraduate degree.

If I get a Pell Grant, how is it disbursed to me or to my school?

You will receive your Pell Grant payment in one of several ways: your school can credit Pell Grant payments to your account, you may receive a check, or the payment may be made by paying part to the school and part to the student. Your college will notify you in writing of the amount of the Pell Grant, and tell you how and when payments will be made. Schools must credit your account at least once per term.

N.O. Saints Merchandise – New Orleans Saints Merchandise – Merchandise for the New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The New Orleans Saints perform in the South Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).

The Saints were founded in 1967 as an NFL expansion team and played their home games at Tulane Stadium through 1974. They went more than a decade before they were able to wrap up a season with a .500 record, 2 decades before having a winning season, and over four decades before reaching the Super Bowl. The team’s first successful years were from 1987–1992, when the team made the playoffs four times and had winning records in the non-playoff seasons. In the 2000 season, the Saints defeated the then-defending Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams for the team’s initial playoff win.

The 2009 season was the team’s greatest. The 11/30/2009 Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots, a game in which the team went to an 11–0 record for the first time in franchise history, was the second highest rated cable program to date. After becoming 13–0 with their win vs. the Atlanta Falcons, it marked the Saints’ best start to a season in its franchise history. The outcome clinched an NFC playoff berth, a bye in the first round of the NFL playoffs. By winning their first 13 games, the Saints at the same time set in place the record for the longest undefeated season opening (13-0) by an NFC team since the AFL–NFL merger, eclipsing the previous record (12-0) held by the 1985 Chicago Bears. The Saints advanced to the 2009 NFC Championship game where they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 in overtime, sending the team to their first Super Bowl appearance in the franchise’s history.
